LUXEMBOURG -- Wikio announced the closing of its series A investment round, netting $5.3 million from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Israel-based Gemini Israel Funds. The company operates public wiki web sites in the US, France, Germany, Spain and Italy and is the brainchild of founder Laurent Binard. Wikio claims to have attained nearly one million unique visitors per month since its launch in June of 2006.
